Seattle rejoices in sun-soaked summer

The man in the photo is a Hmong flower farmer. He is picking sunflowers. They are taller than he is. He will put the sunflowers into bouquets. He will sell the bouquets at the markets in Puget Sound. Sunflowers are planted in June. They are picked in August. This man’s farm is close to Carnation. It is one of 90 other small Hmong flower farms in Washington State.
