Turkey Talk–President George Bush gives this turkey named Pumpkin a national pardon at the official Turkey Pardoning Ceremony in the White House’s Rose Garden

Turkeys are popular holiday birds. Americans eat about 46 million turkeys on Thanksgiving and 22 million on Christmas. But every year there is one lucky bird. This lucky bird goes to the White House, but the President doesn’t eat this turkey. The president gives the turkey a pardon. The pardon saves the turkey from the Thanksgiving table. After the pardon, the turkey goes to a farm and lives peacefully. Last Year President Obama let two turkeys, Mac and Cheese go free.
