It can be confusing to order coffee at a coffee shop. Customers have hundreds of drink choices. And, many people feel nervous because they don’t know the special language of the baristas (coffee servers). Starbucks is a very popular coffee shop. Learn how to order coffee at Starbucks, and you can order coffee anywhere.

Start with the cup size. The sizes are short (8oz), tall (12oz), grande (16oz), and venti (20oz). Next choose a special espresso drink. Espresso drinks are lattes and cappuccinos (espresso and milk) and mochas (espresso, milk, and chocolate).

Espresso drinks are delicious (yummy), but practice how to place the order.

1.  Size

2.  Options: number of shots of espresso (single, double, triple), milk (nonfat or soy), decaf (no caffeine), and flavor (vanilla, for example)

3.  Type of Drink

It’s the holiday season, so try an espresso holiday drink. The flavors are pumpkin spice, gingerbread, eggnog and peppermint. You can say, “A tall, triple pumpkin spice latte, please. Or, “A venti soy peppermint mocha, please.”

Coffee shops are meeting places. Baristas will help you order, and you can hear and practice English. Enjoy your yummy drink!
